AME is usually a tern used in workers’ compensation and sometimes disability claims.  an AME is Medical Doctor who typically has had additional training in Industrial Medicine and work-related injuries.

This person is agreed upon to do the evaluation by an injured worker’s attorney and the insurance company’s claims administrator and their attorney. Thus the term Agreed Medical Evaluator.
